World Youth Skills Day is recognized annually on July 15th by the United Nations and emphasizes the importance of equipping the next generation with skills to flourish in their future endeavors. Today, our participants got an inside look of our safety dojo and learned more about the Japanese culture. We share the understanding of the importance of investing in our youth and are so happy to have welcomed the children of our Daikin team this week to engage in inspiring activities! After only holding the event virtually the past two years, we were so excited to welcome these smiling faces to Daikin Texas Technology Park again. Close to 40 children of our employees from grades 6 through 7 spent the day learning more about Daikin and the many things that we do! They began their day with stretching and an overview of Daikin followed by safety demonstrations and practice with hands-on manufacturing skills in our core skills Dojos. Later on, they participated in a Japanese cultural activity, kendama, led by The Japan-America Society of Houston, Inc. - JASH. Other highlights of the day included an environmental activity from our Green Team and tours of both the Daikin and Goodman Showrooms!
Habitat for Humanity is a non-profit organization that strives to provide sustainable and affordable housing within the local community. The volunteer team of interns spent its day in Tomball, Texas, helping construct the home that will soon serve as a new beginning for a local family.

When you think of pollinators, bees and butterflies typically come to mind. But did you know that wasps, birds, moths and even bats are considered pollinators? They sure are! All these insects and mammals are responsible for pollinating approximately 30 percent of the world's food and fiber crops.
We are proud to be a partner with Precinct 4 Commissioner R. Jack Cagle's Office as well. As part of tradition, our summer Adopt-A-County-Mile events are intern-led. We are so grateful to have had nearly 50 volunteers, including our summer interns, who went the extra mile to ensure our community and campus stays beautiful and clean!
This contest aims to inspire young citizens to share and grow in our commitment of respecting and preserving the environment. The theme for the 2022 contest, aligning with Earth Day, is “Invest in our Planet!” The artwork is now on display in the Daikin Texas Technology Park visitor lobby for all of our guests, community, and employees to see. We are so thankful for our Waller ISD family and all of the fifth graders who entered this year!
This group of 13 students have traveled near and far to join our Daikin team for the summer. Daikin is eager to see what they will accomplish as they bring their hard work and fresh ideas to our Daikin team.
Students toured our facility, even stopping by our Automated Guided Vehicles laboratory. We appreciate Fort Bend ISD for allowing us to inspire the next generation of engineers!
Five years ago, we held our historic grand opening and welcomed over 4,500 people from our Daikin team and the community for a celebratory festival. The grand opening was an incredible day of unity filled with Japanese culture, fun activities, and even a concert from Clint Black! We are beyond grateful for the immense growth we have seen since then, employing thousands of people in the Greater Houston area. Our efforts have also since expanded greatly to our local schools and community. From awarding STEM scholarships to graduating seniors, educating elementary students on our environmental values, and even sending high school students to Osaka, Japan with our Homestay program, we could not be prouder to call Waller, Texas our home.

We will welcome more in the coming weeks, totaling nearly 50 interns. This program is a great opportunity for college students to enhance their career but also provides great value to Daikin by introducing fresh, energetic perspectives. We look forward to seeing their hard work, dedication and contributions as they learn and grow throughout their time here in Waller!
In past years, Daikin would send four WHS seniors and a teacher to Osaka, Japan, to get a firsthand experience of their culture. This year, due to COVID-19 travel restrictions, the Homestay Program was adapted to experience Japanese culture in the greater Houston area.
Many community partners, including Asia Society Texas Center and The Japan-America Society of Houston, Inc. - JASH helped make this a tremendous success! Special thanks to Waller ISD for allowing us to share Daikin and Japanese culture!
We also recognized the 19 participants who will have their art displayed in the Daikin Texas Technology Park visitor's lobby for the next year!
We have 20 winners from this talented group and their artwork will be on display for visitors to see at Daikin Texas Technology Park.
Daikin team members volunteered to clean up around the storm water retention area, which is home to various plant and animal life. While we prioritize recycling and proper waste disposal at all times, windy conditions sometimes carry debris where it shouldn’t be. We encourage everyone to safely take a few minutes to do the same in your area!

Daikin aims to reduce its environmental impact through actions like diverting recyclable waste from being sent to landfills and organizing volunteer cleanup efforts to reduce litter in areas around our facilities.
We also make efforts to advance environmental awareness among school-age students and communication with our employees. Today, team member from Daikin Texas Technology Park visited E. Turlington Elementary School in Hockley, Texas to present various aspects of sustainability and environmental education to more than 125 students and staff.
We kicked off Earth Day activities with a tree planting ceremony at DTTP on April 8, attended by Daikin leadership and volunteers, Houston Asian Chamber of Commerce members and Harris County Precinct 4 Commissioner R. Jack Cagle and his staff!
